Hey BK,

Why don't we ask someone like T. Viola who actually works in the
industry whether he prefers an "Intel Inside" or a chip from AMD.

I guess you just did (ask). Absolutely insist on Intel as do all companies that make servers or PCs with a more serious mission than playing games. If for no other reason, it's because of Intel's far superior manufacturing and process control, yields, and therefore, reliability.

Another part of the article mentioned what ifs about competition at the chip level from HP, Sun and IBM. Lord help the guy if he actually thinks anyone of those three other than IBM who admits they don't want to go head to head with Intel again can actually be a threat to Intel. What I said on the AMD thread:

The article misses the most important reasons for investing in INTC:

1)Intel has made massive investments in chip manufacturing technology over the last couple of years. It is now the lowest cost manufacturer of chips with massive state of the art capacity and a huge capacity shortage coming up.

2)With Video and high bandwidth connections coming up, celeron and low end chips will simply not be able to keep up.

Article also fails to mention INTC "investments" other than the acquisitions. Probably a lot of hidden value there as there is in AOL and MSFT minority investments. INTC owns some of RHAT and quite a few others. Most are carried at lower of cost or market.
