Very interesting...
The thing is that any continued rally in AU is going to be based on continued buying of previously borrowed gold and Y2K fears. I do not see Ag as benefiting as much in this kind of rally.
In an extended multi-year bull market in PM, there would probably be an initial contraction in the ratio but in the final blow off rally in Au to above the 1980 high the ratio would stretch to the 60-100 range in my opinion. I can honestly see $2000 Au but have a hard time with Ag over $40 and see $100 as out of the question.
