RE the TV show, Y2K: Ready or Not

I did some research before I posted. I searched the AT&T site, both ABC and its affiliate, ZDNet because their Y2K director was featured, the Cassandra Project, whose originator was featured, several TV sites, and a general Web search. Couldn't find out a thing. I even checked the phone number I posted in a reverse phone directory. Couldn't find it. Odd for a show that was so well done.

Looks like the other viewers saw it much as I did. One of the interesting things about the show was that it interviewed a variety of people with a variety of perspectives, treated them all with respect, and left the viewer to determine what to make of it all. I had begun to think that respect for differing points of view and their proponents was an early casualty of Y2K.

Nonetheless, the show influences by the relative prominence of messages. If I had watched it not knowing anything at all about Y2K, I would definitely be buying a couple of weeks worth of groceries. On the other hand, I would have come away unconcerned about flying, not likely to take all my money out of the bank, and disinclined to buy a gun. If I lived near a chemical plant I would be concerned. Also, if I lived in the great, frozen middle of North America and had no independent source of heat, I'd be heading south, or at least west to Vancouver.

Karen

p.s. >>I don't know exactly where you're located <><

Why, Cheryl, you've already told everyone where I'm located: "P.S. I think kholt's in "la-la land"." ;)

Hello, Cheryl! I sent you a PM through SI's "back door." Aren't you going to say "HowDEEEE?"

Thought of you today, when Blue Bucket Gold Diggings received an inquiry from a gentleman in Grant's Pass who had heard about the big upcoming weekend?

Should Roy and Pat send YOU the thank you note? I'll be sure and tell them we are acquainted. Maybe you could sneak away for a fun weekend out here with all of us. After all it IS a 4 day weekend, and not all THAT far from Grant's Pass if you sneak through the middle of the state.

Y2K issue discussed among Computer Consultants

Mr. Houston, you seem to be devoted to this
Y2K subject. I was wondering if you have
stumbled over any active place on the net
where computer consultants are exchanging
problems and ideas for resolving Y2K issues.
As an I.S.Director for a company, I still
have several loose ends to tie up that I'd
like to share with people of similar ilk.
Any links you could provide would be very
much appreciated, Thank you.

Hello Cheryl,

How are you? I hope everything is fine with you and your family. I hope you enjoy the Holiday season.

I can think of nothing better to do before we find out how bad the rollover is than to spend time with our friends and family.

How are your nieces?

Hopefully we will not be looking back at this Holiday season full of nostalgia.

Miss your posts.

You know, this "prepare for 72 hrs" bit ... then effectively says ... DO NOTHING. Which, unfortunately, is what most are doing.

Fortunately, most people didn't listen to you...
Where have you been???
Glad you were wrong, but i'd have at least made a presence to say I was 100% wrong ;)
