Psion using ARM chip but according to this 7/2/99 news release its IBM Wonder if the deal cooled off ? " IBM supplies PowerPC , disk and software for Psion hand-held MOT partners EPOC OS ; for enterprise server (direct) access : ========== " LONDON, July 2 (Reuters) - British palmtop computer company Psion Plc said on Friday it would use IBM <IBM.N> hardware and software in its new range of Java-enabled EPOC-based mobile products due to hit the market this October.... Psion said its subsidiary, Psion Enterprice Computing Ltd, would become one of the first mobile device manufacturers to provide customers with the new version of IBM's MQSeries developed for embedded devices. MQSeries is a top-selling messaging software from IBM and will allow mobile applications to exchange data with back-office systems, helping to ensure that data transactions between a Psion device and the server are secure and reliable. "Both Psion and IBM believe that if tomorrow's handheld information devices are to become serious business tools, they need a trusted means to access and communicate with a variety of server-based applications, which will allow them to access and use corporate data virtually anytime, anywhere," said Pion's Chief Executive David Levin. Psion said it also planned to support IBM's new DB2 Everywhere database application in its new generation of products. This will allow Psion users to synchronise their mobile data with business-critical information on enterprise servers. Psion and IMB also intend to work together to enable the new netBook product to support IBM's 340 megabyte microdrive, the world's smallest hard disk drive.
