My friend tells me that there is a Modem out now, or coming out soon, that allows you to receive calls while on line. Do you know at all about that?

Its called a cable modem. Not only can you receive phone calls while on line, its 50 times faster than that outdated hunk a junk you're using now.

No, but chances are he's thinking of an ADSL modem, they leave your existing phone operational and the data travels over the same pair of copper.

We all know the various problems involved with xDSL not to mention the cost.
It's a great system if you just happen to live in a clean area and can afford to buy the modem, get everything installed and pay the higher monthly fees.
