Walter,

The multilevel patents center around the technology of engineering two bits per cell. This is a demanding engineering task with narrower tolerances. Also the write speeds have not been good enough to date to allow for use with digital cameras. It may be adequate for less demanding applications such as data or compressed audio storage. I believe these facts to be generally true and I recall them being mentioned earlier in 1998 in a press release.

Walter,

Go to this link...

invoxtech.com

Then click "corporate" ===> "overview" ===> "technology" ===> "white pages"

You'll need Acrobat Reader to view the text.

They talk about 8 bits of data per cell vs. Intel Strataflash.
I guess that is how we'll get to gigabit technology from the current 256 Mbit geometry.

I think we should thank Binx for pointing this company out over a year ago.

Exciting stuff!

Way to go, Binx!!!
