Re: "I'm sure that Intel will be able to come up with a couple "performance benchmarks" in the CuMines favor. Still, I think what matters the most is Mhz. Hard to fudge the Mhz numbers... Since the Athlon is half way to .18u now (even admitted by Prengel and PB) I feel better for the full .18u transition...don't you?"

You could be right. I will not consider the CuMine to outperform the Athlon unless it does so on SpecInt95 and/or SpecFP95. Obscure benchmarks don't count. But keep in mind we have been fed a constant diet telling us the K7 is 7th generation architecture and Intel's old 6th generation can't possibly come close. Imagine the egg on their faces if CuMine actually beats Athlon, the mighty 7th generation worlds fastest x86 processor!!

Jimmy,

Re: "I feel better for the full .18u transition...don't you?"

Now why do you feel better, Jimmy ... Will AMD develop a .18um Aluminum
backend to put on their .18um frontend ?? Or, will they just have to
wait for the Dresden "fiasco" to "happen" ??

Make It So,
Yousef
