Sometimes you get a pop from an anal-ysts recommendation and sometimes you don't. If you believe that SBUX is fundamentally sound, hold on. In this instance, I don't believe it's doing our psyche any good by watching the tape too close.

Re: DB Alex Brown "Buy."

Hi Sarkie!

1: It's only a reiteration.

2: A DBAB "Buy" = a 2, not a 1.

Best wishes,
Tom

Starbucks Introduces Caramel Apple Cider: A Beverage For Fall Season; New Drink Is Like A Mug of Hot Apple Pie

SEATTLE, Oct 5, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- As the sun sets earlier and
autumn winds chill the air, nothing warms up the body like hot apple
pie. Starting tomorrow, Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) presents
this same taste in a new beverage, the Caramel Apple Cider, a decadent
mix of caramel and apple juice.

"The Caramel Apple Cider tastes like it was baked in a Dutch oven --
its scent belongs on the window sill," says Peter Gibbons, Starbucks
vice president, Product Management. "It has a perfect mix of sweet
caramel and tart apple juice."

Made with freshly steamed apple cider, enhanced with cinnamon syrup and
topped with a dollop of sweet whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel,
this indulgent beverage will take the chill off any fall activity, be
it raking leaves in the front yard or taking in a football game. The
beverage will be available at Starbucks retail locations throughout
North America.

"Our new beverage and the changing of the seasons go hand in hand,"
Gibbons continues. "As we continue to expand the Starbucks Experience
to customers who desire something a little different, or are looking
for an alternative to coffee, we offer this fall indulgence."

Starbucks Coffee Company is the leading retailer, roaster and brand of
specialty coffee in the world. In addition to its retail locations in
North America, the United Kingdom, the Pacific Rim, and the Middle
East, Starbucks sells whole bean coffees through its specialty sales
group, direct response business, supermarkets and online at
www.starbucks.com. Additionally, Starbucks produces and sells bottled
Frappuccino(R) coffee drink and a line of premium ice creams through
its joint venture partnerships and offers a line of innovative premium
teas produced by its wholly owned subsidiary, Tazo Tea Company.
