Morning Chip --

My thanks to you and others who have, both in public and private communications, been so gracious in welcoming me from my break from SI.

This contest should be interesting; quite apart from the fun and games, I am interested in seeing how accomplished day traders fare against position traders over a 6 month time frame.

Re the Fed, I suspect that we will see rates unchanged with a bias to tighten in the future. What effect this will have on the markets remains to be seen -- assuming that this occurs. I would think that the best thing for the markets would be to have an increase today and then a neutral bias -- it would take away the uncertainty of what is to follow over the next couple of months.

We'll know soon enough what lies in store
