Buy and hold isn't always the best way to invest. Take a look at the MU chart for example. 5 years ago investors bought the stock at $90. I'm sure there are still some shareholders "waiting to get out even". So the timing of your initial purchase is critical. It makes "buy and hold" a lot easier, not to mention your selling decision.

I don't consider myself a trader. I normally hold stocks at least several years. But I frankly could not imagine sitting thru 5 years of red ink like many of the MU investors had to endure.
