B: Clarent Chosen for Capcom's IP Telephony Network in Spain; Capcom Will Turn
Up Wholesale and Retail Long Distance Calling Services

GENEVA, Oct 12, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Clarent(R) Corporation
(Nasdaq:CLRN), a worldwide leader in carrier-grade, phone-to-phone IP
telephony solutions, and Capcom International, provider of
international and national wholesale and retail telecommunications
services in Spain, announced today that Clarent has been chosen to
provide technology for Capcom's deployment of IP telephony services.

Capcom will be installing a Clarent-based IP telephony network in major
cities throughout Spain. Capcom will offer voice and fax services via
prepaid calling cards and will also offer international wholesale
calling services. Capcom will use IP telephony for both domestic and
international calling, and hopes to turn up commercial service in the
Fall of 1999.

"We are implementing IP telephony in our network because it is the
telecommunications technology of the future," said Laura Caprile,
general manager, Capcom. "We selected Clarent because of its product
design, its leadership in selling to carriers worldwide, and its
extensive customer base and clearinghouse program so that we can have
access to partners worldwide."

"Clarent is very pleased to have Capcom as a customer," said Chris
Wyles, vice president and general manager, Europe Middle East and
Africa, Clarent Corporation. "Capcom has been successful in offering
international calling services in Spain, and IP telephony will help
Capcom enhance and expand its international and domestic product
offerings."
