Yeah, that Athalon has got some legs. Number 3 in the world on specfp? (Insert favorite use of God's name in vain here.) The Ath is the reason I bought AMD. The thing that really turned my head was those first articles on overclocking. I've overclocked my machines for years, and I know what it means.

By the way, for your enjoyment, the shortest article I've ever seen at EE-Times:
NO RAMBUS FOR CHRISTMAS?
Samsung halts Rambus wafer starts as a new chip set delay suggests Rambus PCs will not ship until next year.
techweb.com

Did you see that article from Rambus announcing the new DDR chips? (By new, I assume they mean the transition to SSTL_2 I/O, as they've been sampling LVTTL_3 parts for quite some time.) It had all the information I like to see when someone talks about differences from perfection in their new chip.

Micron readies DDR memory
Klein said the DDR chips still suffer from reference voltage leakage and asymmetrical data eyes, which are lowering operating speeds.
...
There are also some remaining glitches within the DDR chipset, including package noise and buffer noise, which both reduce operating performance.

eetimes.com

Compare the above to the silence on what is happening with Camino. My suspicion is that Rambus is still in big trouble, at this moment my guess is that today's big rumor was completely unreal.
