You will really like him when you get to reading him. Consider yourself fortunate to have waited until now to savor the experience. You've actually plowed through the Song of Roland? I've made a couple of efforts, but always drift away. I recently purchased it on cassette from Blackstone Audiobooks, haven't given it a listen yet. Some people say that's cheating. I like to consider it an adjunct. Poetry is more powerful when heard than read, I believe.
