PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct 12, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- AltaVista Company, the premier media and commerce network and top 10 Internet site at altavista.com, has selected Engage Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENGA) to provide enhanced profile-driven online advertising technology and services. AltaVista and Engage are both majority-owned operating companies of CMGI, Inc. (NASDAQ:CMGI).
AltaVista will deploy Engage's ProfileServer, an application-independent profiling platform that generates and delivers complete, individual profiles of web visitors in real time, allowing sites to deliver targeted advertising and content through leading applications. The Web-based profiling solution will further enable advertisers throughout the AltaVista Network to more effectively target relevant advertising messages and provide specific e-commerce offers to users based on comprehensive visitor profiling. AltaVista advertisers will benefit from a greater ability to accurately track and measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns with this new technology. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
