The charts of MSFT, DELL, INTC are not that convincing for a NAZ close to a new all time high.

Hi Stefan. I think you're right about the above. It also may be that we're beginning to see a transition between the old "four (or five) horsemen" and a new set of stocks as leaders. I'm not sure who these growing Gorillas might be, but may include JDSU, HLIT, EXDS, EMLX, BRCM, et al. Communications infrastructure may take the place of "plastics."

Stefan,

The significance of the MSFT earnings date is that it is the last of the big technology stocks to report. The majority of the large tech stocks have reported by then. After that date only CSCO and a few others remains to report. At that point the emphasis starts to shift back to economic numbers and other data. Most traders will have a feel for what sectors are doing well be then and have ridden the waves as each of the companies report.

>>>In the past quarters Clint often said that the rally would continue until Microsoft posts earnings.

Generally true. However, in the last few quarters, with the exception of last quarter, the nasdaq has rallied thru AOL's earnings. It should do the same this month since AOL is getting warm.

Sorry that I don't post anymore. Should be able to post more at night in Jan. when my Mom goes to stay with my brother for a couple of months before going back home. Family comes first. The market is always here.

Also, a month ago they warned us at work that we are being closely monitored for any "day-trading" activity. They said that "day-trading" is becoming a concern to corp. America and it is against company's policy......So, I changed my trading habits and decided not to log onto SI during the day.

I got into a few stocks last week and this week and planning to keep them for a while(pre-AOL earnings), Due to the situation at work, I am also trying to come up with a new system of trading so I am doing some paper trades.

Take care.
