Very nice analysis, but there is a different breed of shorters. Those that don't short to the 'death of the stock'.. After reading the Art of Short Selling by Staley I do understand that they check the fundamentally unsound etc. but I short stocks that I have been long in at some point in time. We 'short term shorty shorts' have nothing against the 'real bona fide shorter to the death' quite the contrary. They do the same analysis that I do for fundamentally sound stocks and find fundamentally unsound stocks. I think what people are against are the vehemence and the terms like (POS) stocks and the infiltration of the threads that are proponents of that particular stock that angers people.

When I short a stock, I mention it on the thread once or twice, but I don't step off the thread to the aforementioned thread and goad the investors or frighten them to sell their shares. I've gone long and short stocks like RHAT, PHCM, MPPP, CMRC,HLIT,SNDK, NTOP, AOL, etc. but I wouldn't go on the threads and declare the stock to be a POS stock. Its only that part of the shorting process that is distasteful to some people. Its like they want to 'boost the stock along' to its downfall where we just go with the stocks trend and short when the technical signals show a reversal is imminent, but we don't try to bring about that reversal ourselves.
