So what caused the rise today? I was just reading up on HIFN and it's a fabless company. Is there any chance XICO will reach $151 soon just based on being fabless as well? Hmmm, I'll start shopping for my fire engine red NSX, dreaming...

Xicor and Yamaha Announce Joint Product Development Agreement
Long-Term Strategic Relationship Expands
MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 1999--Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq:XICO - news) and Yamaha Corporation (Hamamatsu, Japan), today announced that they have agreed to join marketing forces and design talent in co-developing products which both companies will sell under their own names.

This agreement, in addition to the foundry agreement that was successfully implemented last year, increases the cooperation between the two companies, and is expected to result in better new product definition as well as faster time to market for various proprietary products. The products will be manufactured at Yamaha's Kagoshima, Japan wafer fab facility.

This joint product development agreement encompasses work on proprietary products that integrate analog, digital and nonvolatile reprogrammable elements. The first products to be developed under this agreement will be for the rapidly growing market for battery power management in laptops and cellular phones.

''This is another milestone in our growing relationship with Yamaha,'' said Bruce Gray, president and COO of Xicor. ''Yamaha's expertise in analog circuit design, combined with our 20 years of experience in the nonvolatile, reprogrammable memory market, has prepared us well to join forces and bring to market new innovative products.''

Yamaha's semiconductor division corporate director and general manager, Hirokazu Kato, added, ''We are excited about this new facet of our relationship with Xicor. Our designers will now have additional resources to design more exciting products.''

Xicor and Yamaha entered into a strategic relationship in February 1997. This relationship involved the transfer of Xicor's manufacturing process and a wafer foundry supply agreement. In the third quarter of 1999, Yamaha produced more than one-third of Xicor's wafers.
