A question about DSL. Is it capable of supporting video at real time speed? For instance, can one watch a movie with no noticable difference from VCR or DVD by downloading it using DSL? It would be great if they could. After all, not all homes have cable, but most have a phone line.

So it's hard for me to see how DSL is such a mediocrity. I'm close to getting it at home myself since it offers such great speed for such a reasonable cost.

I've had DSL for a year from US West and I agree. I'd find it very difficult to go back to a modem. And those are the only two choices I have since the cable company in my neighborhood doesn't yet offer cable modems.

The "mediocrity" word came from ahhaha's post to which I was responding. Compared to some theoretical alternative like fiber to the door, it is that, but those alternatives aren't available to most of us and won't be any time soon.
