However, I fear we may differ on who shall be classified as idiots. Frankly, I don't think it's the dopey little family with 2.3 kids, living in the ticky tacky house. They are often the last to waver from the script for success. At the risk of sounding like a snob, the problem with all too many of these people is the limited vision that comes with the territory. I spent much of my childhood in such a neighborhood and was even then astonished that the pinnacle of worldly success seemed to be owning the corner drugstore or bar. Part of the poignance of "Saturday Night Fever" was the deep symbolism of crossing the bridge into Manhattan, considering the possibility of a new and broader life.
