Global Crossing up on takeover speculation Fri Oct 08 14:01:00 EDT 1999 NEW YORK, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Shares of Global Crossing Ltd jumped about 8 percent in heavy trading on Friday on speculation that the Bermuda-based communications company may be the industry's next takeover target, traders said. Speculation was fueled by a Financial Times report that Deutsche Telekom AG recently held preliminary talks with Global Crossing about a takeover, a trader said.
