I am not as optimistic about the Nehru-dynasty dying out any time soon, thanks to the congress rodents. Yes, I blame it all on them for keeping India so poor and backward even after 50 years of power. A few bright spots here and there, notwithstanding.

And I am not so pessimistic about India's future as you are! I think India will survive. And if the present churning in politics is any indication, a strong pro-India central party, ably assisted by strong regional parties, will evolve to make India a better nation.

Your earlier contention that only a coalition of regional parties can rule India does not seem practical. In India, there will always be a need for a central party, both in the govt and in opposition. But, hopefully, they will remain in check as they will have to depend on regional parties for being in power. Just like BJP will be in check by TDP, DMK, et al.

Congress(I) has never faced such a situation, and it loathes such a situation where *IT* doesn't call all the shots. Hence, coalition is a four letter word for it.
