heinz blasnik: I have fostered the expectation that Y2K would be at least, a self fulfilling prophecy before the end of this year.

I have been expecting a certain amount of US investors to take a defensive posture by reducing equity exposure, going to bonds, other cash instruments and some green back pillow stuffing...<gg>

I also have been expecting some foreign investors to reduce exposure and seek the perceived safety of the US dollar by reducing their equity exposure overseas and buying US treasuries.

That would lead to a rally in bonds and a decline in equities. This would fulfill my technical read for both interest rates and equities to decline. Then after the first of the year, depending on the "real" Y2K effect, the Market would continue its present course or reverse depending on what happens.

What is your take?
