It all depends on whether you can afford another computer. I was just noticing how cheap Erol's is selling them, they do keep getting cheaper. A computer for everyone would be nice, but it's also nice to share. The computer the kids use has the hard drive partitioned, and they have pass-word protected their own virtual drives. They also have pass-word protected their own AOL sub-accounts.

We've only got three computers, and four people, but the kids also like video games that they play on the TV, so everyone can have electronic stimulation at the same time if they want it. And we have two internet accounts.

Wow- Jenny knows enough to mess around in directories? I'm impressed. Does she know what she's doing? Is there any way to allow her access while still protecting Joey's "stuff"? I take it that Joey wasn't trying to keep you out and is willing to give you the password? (While we tried to allow our boys privacy, they were never allowed to keep us OUT of the computer, or anyplace, particularly at that age.)

If neither of yours needs replacing (computers, not kids), can you just buy a cheap one for Jenny- enough for the simple games? even a second hand one-- like a 486? We have so many parts floating around, too bad you don't live next door! CW could make her one. At three, she shouldn't need any complex functions, should she?

On the other hand, if Joey is showing a real gift for this, maybe he does need his own to program and mess with. We had hard drives erased, and computers blow up, and programs disappear, but CW learned a phenomenal amount because we gave him free rein. I don't regret a penny of it, though I know people thought we were crazy.

Three's kinda young to be unsupervised maybe? I can see why Joey would be upset.

We wound up with three phone lines, three net accounts and five or six computers. It's been worth it.
