Ah, yes, I knew it. Twist, twist, obfuscate, confuse, and re-define and re-interpret. As you said, a year is the time the earth takes to complete an orbit of the sun.

But let me pose another question: If you cannot trust that your interpretation of that simple word in the Bible is right, how can you trust that any interpretation you make of anything in it is correct? Is God trying to fool us through word games and hidden meanings?

If you have to apply subtle, unobvious meanings to simple words in this book, then everything you think you know is in danger. It becomes a swamp you can never find your way out of.

another thought occurred to me: Occam's Razor.

If you must apply all the twists and turns needed to keep the Bible from turning into an idiotic, self-contradictory, unintelligible mish-mash- -well, maybe it is just WRONG. That is the simplest solution to the problem.
