Wouldn't we all feel more comfortable if Lev were out there buying VLNC on the open market?

Explain why you would say that TA and FA "do not jive" in the case of VLNC. How is either the fundamental position or the technical view good?

Let us suppose I am an OEM laptop PM who is considering whether to design in LiPoly into the next generation of my laptops. Let's suppose I am looking at some pretty favorable performance numbers on VLNC or other cells, maybe even from my own people. Let's suppose I've had a bit of a relationship with one for more LiPoly suppliers and have watched their learning curve. Maybe I'm generally familiar with the power market in general, or one of my guys is. Let's suppose I'm looking at some proposal numbers from VLNC and perhaps other vendors.

Here are some questions I might have.

- Can these guys produce the cells they claim?
--- unknown

- Are there other sources to cover my butt if they fail?
--- unknown

- Is the LiPoly market really going to be a viable resource in my timeframe?
--- unknown

- Are my user clamoring for LiPoly in particular?
--- not specifically ... LiPoly has no recognition value (no "logo" value)
--- users do want the advantages
--- but my sales are increasing without it

- Are there alternatives?
--- better LiIon ... incremental improvements?

- Do any of my competitors offer it?
--- no ... they are in the same position as I am

- Is there significant risk of getting "behind the curve" on this?
--- no ... if it takes off, I can jump on later
--- operating time is not the only ground on which I can compete

- If I adopt LiPoly, does that enhance my bottom line?
--- unclear if it increases sales
--- clear that risks are involved

- So ... will I adopt for my next generation?
--- nope ... I'll wait a cycle

I think this might be characteristic reasoning for mainstream, mid-curve vendors. Certainly vendors differ in their aggressiveness.

PDAs and phones are a whole different story ... they are competing with an amazing intensity that surpasses the laptop world.

POs soon?

Qui bono?
