An Italian priest was preparing to ring the noon bell in the bell tower on the top of the old village cathedral.
He heard someone on the stairs, and turned to find a young boy climbing up the long spiral staircase. He
sees, to his surprise, that the boy has no arms.

"Father, I would like to ring the bell of the cathedral. My momma has just passed away, and I want to ring
the bell for her." the boy says.

The priest, confused and feeling rather awkward, asks "How would you do this? You don't have...."

"I will hit the bell with my head" he replies. "I do this with things at home, it is no problem" he assures the old
priest.

"Well, all right..." -- and the boy runs across the short space and slams into the bell -- GONGGGGG -- but
then staggers, stunned, to the edge and goes over the short wall, falling to the ground below in a sickening
heap.

By the time the priest gets down to the ground, a crowd is gathering. They can see that the boy had no arms,
and are astonished at this. "Who is he -- Who was he?" they ask. The priest replies: "I don't know who he
is, but his face sure rings a bell..."
