It amazes me how often I have to repeat this. Qualcomm's IPR is required for any mobile cell CDMA system. Period. No 'ifs', 'ands' or 'buts'....Qualcomm will collect good royalties on W-CDMA, and will probably sell a healthy number of chips into that market...

I think the reason you need to keep repeating this is because there is precious little out there that states that QCOM will receive royalties on ASICS for W-CDMA phones. Many of the press articles give the impression that QCOM does not have IPR for W-CDMA. It would certainly give me more piece of mind if I could see this acknowledged more often. If fact, I've done quite a bit of searching this weekend to find any article or press release that states that QCOM will receive royalties on W-CDMA ASICS but I've come up empty. Nothing at the QCOM site, or anywhere else. QCOM management may have been clear on this, but I hope everybody else out there (read: Europeans) understands it.
