Stephen. res-Why not "family values"? Why not leave the religion out of it, in acknowledgement of the fact that there are lots of non-Christian families out there sharing the same values?

If you start an organization, you have the freedom to base it on religios principles or not. The fact that you don't see any atheistic organization working toward these same goals should give you pause to wonder why? Perhaps they don't find the goal worthy enough to sacrifice and work towards? Or maybe some atheistic person did start one and never received the level of support "Promise Keepers" has? I really don't know, but I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that most charitable organizations in the United States, (helping other people) were started by people of deep religious faith.

They probably feel a higher calling, and are willing to spend years of sweat and toil working towards something they truly believe in.

Why anyone would find that offensive is not logical to me. If the organization had been based on any other religion, or no religion I wouldn't care a bit. What this organization seems to be *doing* is encouraging the participation of fathers in family life. That's seems like a good thing to me, and the really important issue.

If you based support of charitable organizations on whether they had a religious background or belief, you would be hard pressed to find an atheistic organization helping other people. Animals, the forest, or the environment yes. People, pretty tough to find.
