I didn't say I found the organization offensive, or suggesting that they should not exist. I would be suspicious, and I wouldn't want to join such an organization (actually, I can't remember ever joining an association, except for the NRA, when I was about 14), but I wouldn't dream of trying to tell them not to associate for any reason that pleased them. They have a political/ideological bias, so I will be wary of them and appreciate the vigilance of the media in looking after them.

I feel the same way about all ideologues.

One of the great things about the Internet and a free society is that in a few minutes you can get a basic rundown on practically any ideological grouping, prepared by people who dislike and mistrust the group. Makes it a lot harder to sneak up on people, which ideologues have been known to do.

Excuse me for butting in, Michael, but I'd like to point out that there are ZILLIONS of charitable & humanitarian organizations that have no religious affiliation at all. In fact, most of them have no such affiliation. In each of these organizations, there are probably Christians of all stripes, Jews of all stripes, agnostics, atheists, Muslims, Buddhists...But the religious affiliation of the individuals composing the organization has nothing to do with the organization as a whole.

Why are you looking for an atheist charitable organization?? An atheist is not going to pick a charity to support on that basis; in fact, he probably is going to support whatever cause he thinks needs supporting, without troubling himself about the beliefs (or disbeliefs) of the other people who share his concern.
