Joan, my assumption is that most charitable organizations in the United States which focus on helping *people* were *started* by christians. As they grew and people saw the good works they represented, other religios and non religios members joined. You may challenge that assumption if you desire, and I would be open and interested in any factual evidence you have. But that is my assumption.

That doesn't mean I believe there are no atheistic organizations around which are focused on helping people. Nor do I assert there are no other religios organizations which focus on helping people. I've heard of numerous non christian religios organizations focused on helping people. But could you name me one organization which proclaims atheistic beliefs and is focused on helping people? There are probably a few around, but I've never heard of one.

My point really was, why care whether the "Promise Keepers" are christian based or not. Why not value them simply based on whether they do good work or not? And whether that work represents value to society?
