>>> Orckit Communications Ltd. (Tel Aviv), claim they can deliver full-speed ADSL (assuming optimal line conditions)? <<<

I've been seeing this for sometime now and noticed there is much left out of their promotions. Also there is rumor that G.Lite's fast retrain may get written into full rate code. Still there is the POTS to deal with never-the-less. Assuming optimal line conditions is seldom going to be correct, the safe assumption is just the opposite.

From the start of "G.lite" it has been the case that the adaptations made for it's splitterless operation were also applicable to full-rate ADSL. There are vendors (PAIR, for instance) with microfilters usable for splitterless full rate ADSL, though these are perceived more as inevitable ADSL "cross-pollination" than technical advance.

But there are apparently some technical issues with this technology (eg., emissions compliance of uncontrolled in-home wiring carrying signals above 500 kHz) that are currently unresolved in the technical community.
