Dang Ish. I knew this sort of thing was going on, but try hard to ignore it. But folk like you and my sons seem to enjoy forcing me to see it.

Ironically I was sitting around reading today when I heard one of my kids being rather persistent on the phone with someone. It turns out he had read that companies are using some weird bug to make a rather common food colouring. So he went to the kitchen to see if we had anything with that colouring. It turns out we in fact had a bottle of lemonade with it (the name is something like Cochinelia). So my son called the manufacturer to confirm that the colouring came from bugs. After a lot of hammering at it, he finally spoke with a spokesperson of some sort. She told him that the ingredient indeed consisted of bugs, but that the bugs had been cleaned and were USDA approved! (LOL - too much!)

My son was flabbergasted, needless to say.
