I agree that SJC and the Great Books is hardly for a scientist. How long did it take you to recover from Galen and Aristotle? A serious scientist must avoid the great scientific universities like Berkeley for undergraduate study. The faculty student ratio is so large that many honors students cannot even find a supervisor for their honors work. MIT is great at getting undergraduates involved in research. Some of the excellent colleges -- Amherst, Williams, Haverford, Swarthmore have wonderful undergraduate science education.

True. However, I understand the medical department at Harvard is excellent. And besides, it sounds impressive.
