I found a couple of interesting Canadian apple tree sources on the net last night. You might be interested in looking at them just because they have quite good, brief descriptions of a large number of apple varieties. Here are the links:

BTW, I live about 20 miles north of where the Macintosh apples were first grown...

Macintosh - Chance seedling from the farm of John Macintosh, Dundela Ontario. Has become world famous and the parent of many modern apples.

And a bit of trivia as well... my maternal great-great-grandfather is buried next to the the grave of John Macintosh...

Guess that makes me apple-connected or something, eh?...(-:
