< As far as a check book example........if I had $250,000 in an account, purchased an Austin Martin and waited 2 months to sell at a higher price.....I still ought to be able to buy a showroom new Ford and watch the value decline.>

It's not the same, that's a spread......like being Long Crude and Short Mobil or Long Dell and Short Compaq.

What you are saying is that you want to be Long an Aston Martin and Short it as well.

So who has it, you or the person you Sold it to?

Or......can you have your cake and eat it too?

As far as doing it in the same brokerage, you would need two accounts that you have control over. Or, you might Sell 5 minis for every Long Spoo.

Or, and the way most people would do it, be Long One Spoo and Long 5 OEX ATM Puts.
