new leaders of tech:
just my opinion
Cisco in networking
... they are moving beyond computers into fiberoptic interconnects, telephony

Qualcomm in wireless... nuff said

Uniphase in fiberoptic
... they dominate now with all manner of components, owning the key piece of EDFA (erbium doped fiber amplifier)

Sun Microsystems for servers
... they dominate in webservers

Lucent and Nortel in enabling technology
... they provide tons of critical stuff

AOL in internet service???

nobody in software... gonna converge toward free or bought via application service... that is growing and is very competitive

was unaware of your post yday on Intel
agree totally migration has begun
the warning bells were whacks to Compaq, HP

let the CHANGE OF THE TECH GUARD continue
as for painful transition, gonna be some, but not all the Naz Generals will suffer... Cisco and Dell will continue... Intel will become a weaker king... Microsoft will become a recognized thief and acquirer of everything
