I have spent a fair bit of time in the south part of the Adironacks, northeast of Little Falls. It is a scenic area, that is great for a pastoral type experience...I know exactly what you mean about Albany and the type of town that it is. I enjoy the wide open spaces up there.....

a city like albany of Utica is certainy not the place you go for a cosmopolitan experience.

I have and uncle who runs a 7000 acre Lodge, second home, type of deal for a wealthy guy... it has a big lake, 10 miles of dirt road to get around on a Lodge for the Owner and another smaller one for my uncle and people he invites up. It's a real back to nature trip...

the lake is big enough that it shows up on a state Map of NY. and since the owner only spends 2-3 weeks there, the rest of the time there is no one around, so it's an exclusive experience
