>>"the cost of an acquisition is never recognized...but the revenue is instantly recognized...assuming the acquisition is accretive to earnings, the profit from the acquisition will be included in future EPS...."<<

the cost is recognized..it's rite there in the fine print...just the new releases don't spin it that way....it is hyped at 55 cents and 9% revenue ...what we really have is 42 cents and 9% rev growth or 55 cents and 7 % rev growth....if you don't see the abuse of current accounting techniques...than i can't help you ...party on

from your post, it would seem you would be aware of the creative, misleading accounting that wall street has adopted to keep the numbers rolling...how about GE EPS growth..it was great..but included over $1.1 billion for pension funds interest...completly legal accounting...just bullshit that's all.....

I'm am beginning to believe that people have begun to believe their own hype....that the Emporer really does have those non existent clothes.

any way i don't want to be argumentative, the threadsters here are bullish and believe our accounting standards are good....and everyone is entitled to their own opion....
