Just did a bunch of discussion on the DELL thread on this and related topics.

My sense is that IBM, CPQ and HP are likely to be in better shape than DELL WRT component shortages - their history, business model and vendor relationships favor that. Also DELL is the only one of the big 4 with a majority of its business dependent on PCs.

The only CPQ business which had significant Taiwan exposure was the consumer business - some sub-assemblies are made there. We don't know the extent of this shortage but as I said earlier, at least it means that consumer products are being sold... I'll see if I can get anyone at CPQ to talk to me about this.
