Proggy- Don;t be so hard on yourself. Imagine how they guy doing the Hotmail port to Windows is going to feel! :)

I can't even begin to think about that. Whoever takes on that job will have to be so naive that they don't know what they're getting themselves into. That means that no matter how nasty it is, they'll just assume that all programming jobs are like this, and get used to it, and live with the misery. Then they'll continue to create software themselves that are just as horrible to work on and use, and you have perpetuation of the lousy. (That aside, I do admit that Microsoft still have a good looking UI. That's not my problem with them: its the poor functionality and lack of reliabilility underlying that good looking UI that have me screaming, IMO their priorities are all wrong).

This, I believe, is the problem with Microsoft. Steve Jobs said it in a different context, but said something like "The problem with Microsoft is that they have no taste" (my quotes, not his).

P.S. You can add sleep deprivation to the list of things I'm dealing with right now as I death-march towards a product rollout.
