I use OE 4.72 and I didn't ever see the thumbtack until I moved and with my new ISP I now must click the 'Send and Receive' button to move mail between my computer and their server. When I do this, a new window appears listing the tasks (Usually receiving mail, but sometimes both sending and receiving) and the progress. This window has buttons for Hide, Stop, and Details, as well as tabs for Tasks and Errors. Once mail is ready, the window closes automatically. It's in the lower right corner of this window the tack button sits. I must admit that since things are working OK this isn't a serious concern, but I'm still curious about what it does. Often, when trouble appears, it can be traced to something I've done when I wasn't knowing what I was doing. I'm just trying to prevent a mess before it visits. Thanks, PW.
