The Money Flow indicator and Bid/Ask volume.

Probably somewhere in the 4000+ postings is the answer to this posting but without a good search engine in SI for a given subject category I can not find it.

I am trying to understand Vol@Bid and TickVol@Bid (also the Ask side, too) in the SingleQuote screen. I have watched the tick trend (+=-= etc.) for a clue as to when the TickVol@Bid number changes. A - should add 1 to it, a+ adds to the TickVol@Ask. But I can not quite follow it. They do not seem to change in a consistent order that I can make out even though there must be some order. The DnTicks size is about 70% of the TickVol@Bid so some of the = following a - must be counted.

Can the TickVol@Bid be determined from Time and Sales? On the Time and Sales there can be many bid values between the last best bid and a trade. Which bid applies to the trade?

I have read "The Electronic Day Trader". It does not help with these questions.

Thanks for an help.

P.S. I am using TradeStation (TS) for charting and I have written up a revised 6 page supplement relating to workspaces, directories, custom data lists, and chartscanner (plus odds and ends) that covers aspects of these items that the manual does not. If you are just learning TS or SC you may save yourself time by looking over this material which I will email to you upon request.

Gibbons: I am having a little problem with the latest version...Ver 3 Build 5.

I use two chart windows, one more than the other. The one with fewer issues charted in it works fine, but the second window where I have done a lot of chart work (formations, trend lines, etc. on various stocks and indices) is having problems when I decrease space using candles.

Examples below:

homestead.com

Same chart with space decreased.
homestead.com

Let me know what I need to do to fix this.

Regards,
LG

Hi Gibbons,

I too am having problems with your new Beta 3.0 build 5.

After installation I have lost my moving averages. Reinitialized the system and reinstalled the new version with the same results(no moving averages). They are listed in the studies section and can change the numbers, but the lines simply don't show up on the chart. Any help would be appreciated. If I could go back to the previous version I would be happy.

Thank you,
Don

All: Cramer over on TheStreet.com described something today called the "TRIN". He defines it as follows:

The TRIN...is a short-term trading index (hence the name) that gets calculated the following way: You divide the advance-decline volume ratio into the advance-decline ratio.

According to this, the formula would appear to be:

(QC:ADVN/QC:ADDECL)/(QC:UPVOL/QC:DNVOL)

Can anyone familiar with the TRIN confirm this? Do I have to use QLink to view this or can I do it in QCharts?

I also see an indicator in QCharts called "US Stocks TRIN - Arms Trading Index". Is this it? Hmmmm, doesn't appear to be.... the numbers look all wrong.
