Daily Conspiracy Theory: I still think (like I posted several months ago) that aside from the annual October market blues there's a reasonable possibility that what AG & Co. are doing right now relates to a certain extent to Y2K. What they do not want, even if it exacerbates the *normal* October pain, is a closer to year-end 1999 sell-off that *the masses* interpret as Year 2000 panic dumping that feeds on itself to an extent not seen before in most of our lifetimes. Better to let the air out early and in a somewhat controlled fashion.

Then, again, I could be watching too much X-Files.

I believe that the shorter days [Northern Hemisphere which runs the markets] send the human psyche from 'frolick' to 'hibernate' and is responsible for the annual selling ritual.
