But analysts have concerns...

As a result of the lower-than-expected losses, Robertson Stephens' analyst Lowell Singer raised its estimate for DoubleClick's fiscal year 1999 system revenue to $203.5 million from $175.1 million and its 2000 system revenue to $308.5 million from $265.8 million.

He also reduced his 2000 earnings-per-share estimate to a loss of 14 cents from break-even, reflecting the company's "need to spend to build the Abacus Online Alliance." Singer expects DoubleClick's previously-announced merger with Abacus Direct (ABDR: news, msgs) to close in November.

"We believe the company will continue to expand its product offerings in 2000 with a further push behind DART for Advertisers and the introduction of DART for E-Mail," he said in a research note.
