LU mentioned in news with QUIK
Shares of semiconductor maker QuickLogic Corp. (NasdaqSC:QUIK - news) took the No. 3 top percentage gainer spot on Nasdaq. It closed up 5-1/8, or 51 percent, at 15-1/8 after its $10 a share IPO.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based firm raised $66.7 million after offering 6.667 million shares.

QuickLogic, whose competitors includes Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU - news), Xilink and Altera Corp. (NasdaqNM:ALTR - news), posted $18.4 million in revenue for the six months ended June 30 and net income of $987,000.

``Today would have been a perfect excuse to completely rip these IPOs apart,' said David Menlow, president of the IPO Financial Network. But that did not happen.

He added that QuickLogic's resilience amid the general selling pressure illustrates the recent strength of the market for initial public offerings.

Gary,

While you are bullish on LU, I want you to take a look at a
different picture:

moneycentral.msn.com

LU operating cash flow has been negative for several
quarters now. Do you ever wonder why? how can a company
with less and less money to operate while reported positive
earnning. I don't care what your guys say. It does not make
a common sense to me.

LU made big Packstar product announcement last year. They
did not sold any. They bought ASND and tried very hard to
make GFR to work with no result. They bought Nextbit for
900mil, so far no result comes out of it. Do you think LU
management is blind? Even Mr. Fun figures that one out.

Wait until 10/26 their earning report and see if any
improvement made.

Well, the Street.Com goonies are back again with their Lucent trashing now on their TV show. To be honest, I am not being a blind bull of Lucent and these kind of reports highlighting possible stock troubles are unnerving. But the question remains with respect to the targeting of Lucent alone. Herb Greenbergs prediction that LU will fall after their earnings announcement was met with "rebuttal" from Brenda Buttner :-) She said that what they were doing was done by lot of other companies and its legal.
It might be too late to react defensively in my opinion since the stock is already down 25% from the high.
