Mehrdad,

I take exception with you calling me ignorant. Perhaps you should do some looking in the mirror. You can take your "calculus" (Hee hee) elsewhere. You can not seem to have an intelligent conversation without name calling...notwithstanding your facts are incorrect. Be that as it may don't bother posting me back - I will not respond.

With Nokia jumping ship from Symbian and finalizing a contract with 3Com, Qualcomm jumping ship from its partnership with MSFT in Wireless Knowledge and licensing 3Com's PalmOS,

Mehrdad, just to keep the record straight, Nokia did not "jump ship" from Symbian and Qualcomm is not "jumping ship" from Wireless Knowledge. They are both covering all bases in the exploding market of wireless data.

I do like your technique of "finding" value before it's "there." If you wait until the value is proven it will already be priced into the stock and a purchase at that point can only appreciate relative to earnings growth or an even rosier prediction for the future. I normally invest in companies that show present or potential "Gorilla" status. I don't think 3Com will become a true Gorilla as they are covering too many bases even with the Palm spin-off. But I have made an exception with 3Com as I see an easy 3 bagger here in the next 18 months with limited downside risk from the current price which is...27 9/16, whew, still well above my average cost.

I don't see any problem with your investment style and Gary seems to have validated the value you have found in 3Com with his research, although it is clear that you see more potential than he does. I always do my own research (not having any faith in most analysts) but still it comforts me to know that someone who sees 3Com as negatively as Gary does still finds value and limited downside risk.
