Eric, do you know that Barnes & Noble has never generated any free cash flow from it's business?

Well, I maintain that the online book business has actually helped book sales across the board. If anybody has seen any numbers of overall book sales, pre and post Amazon, I'd like to see them.

I don't think there are too many industries where the overall market will increase thanks to the online channel addition... maybe vitamins/drugs might be another one, not sure though.

Glenn - every time I go into the Borders on Union Square or the Barnes & Noble in North Beach in San Francisco, they are
full of people. There is a very small outlet of Books Inc. (a small chain) four blocks from my home - from outward
appearances, their business seems to be doing fine.

Eric,

The stores here seem constantly busy too. The Borders just opened so it is not a good comparison. However, where are all the book buyers now coming from?

Of course, my observations could be affected by the fact that I live in a major metropolitan area - yet it is such areas
that I believe have the highest number of internet users.

The concentration is higher in a large metropolitan area. I believe that is a fact.
