It always amazes me how 30 stocks in an index, that are so damn expensive that most people can't, or wouldn't buy them, have such an effect on the emotions of people. The two most dangerous one's being greed and fear.
The ripple effect that those stocks that make up the index coupled with the frenzy developed by the media is also amazing. This fallback or correction must be a tremendous money maker for brokerage houses and traders alike.Yet, it all is large cap blue chip stocks.
Interesting after a run like the markets have had since 1992 to now that people become fearful of those same stocks. What has changed from then until now????Are they all going bankrupt OR have analysts downgraded them because they missed their earnings ESTIMATES by .20/share?OR OR OR perceived higher inflation,or potential interest rate hikes or Greenspan having a gas attack.......Simply amazing.
