When it says they are without the law it meant those outside of Israel or the revealed and written Law of God... Before Jesus ever wrote the Law in Stone and gave it to Moses Men knew It ! Cain knew he should not have murdered his brother. Men know that they are lost but not all hear the gospel !! Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Many are called --- NOT All are called... This is the outward call of the Gospel to REPENT and Believe. However some men "think they are found" when they are not ! That is false religion.. Salvation by works acts and decisions of the flesh ! Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. This is not talking about people who are living in open sin.. these are the pharisees ( not all Pharisees were bad they were split half and half about Jesus... Don't forget Nicodemus - he got saved )Religious people like the POPE and such who think they have the truth and are not saved... What mission did Jesus leave with his disciples just before he ascended into heaven : Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Gregor... It is our duty to preach the Gospel to any who make any effort at all to hear. It is not our duty to "GET PEOPLE SAVED" God alone saves men.. Men get saved by hearing the WORD but not through hearing the WORD !! The hearing ear is a Spiritual Ear... Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Matthew 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. What does it mean to have a Blessed ear ??? Blessed by whom ?? The word of God is the means... that God has appointed LOOK: 1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. Paul calls it the "foolishness of preaching" such a meager means of salvation when you think of it... What is the real cause of salvation. The power of the Holy Ghost... not some silly person like us... Only the chosen will hear and live. We do not know who they are.. we did not know we would be saved but God Saved us in spite of our feable and sinful resistance :-} Christ Died between two thieves on purpose !! They were both evil fellows... one even admits they deserve what they were getting... Why does one of the "come to himself"??? And the other is hardened all the more.. Why does one not even "fear God at the END"??? Yet the other asks Christ to remember him ?? They both started off mocking and swearing at HIM?? What happened to the one on the right... did he suddenly become wise after such a life of foolishness ?? OR ====WERE HIS EYES OPENED ??????==== What does it mean to have your eyes opened.. is it the same as opening you eyes ?? :-} Agree we are called to speak the Truth where and when we can... Look at this very sober verse: Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Ezekiel 3:19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Or again as Paul plainly says: 1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! Or as Jesus said : Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Gregor In conclusion I would agree that Jesus has said that we should preach the gospel to every creature. Jew and Gentile alike. We do not however need to strive with the wicked. Jesus told us to kick the dust from our heels We are not here to try and turn Goats into sheep We are not to cast our pearls before swine... Does that mean we quit the minute an unbeliever offers any resistance. God forbid How then would we have been saved. Is it up to us alone to witness NO it is the Holy Ghost who converts and uses us, others, and situations to save. I was witnessed to by many people before God poured on the coals and drove me to my knees. Who will be converted some of the people. Who is it that is truly saved The elect only. Can any of God Elect be lost if we do a bad job. We may stumble the elect but they will not fall. ====NO NONE OF GODS ELECT WILL BE LOST ==== Isn't that a comfort :-}
