Re: Willamette won't be here any time soon !...

Why not? If Athlon is at 1GHZ in January, it will probably be at 1.1GHZ by March. I would expect Intel to be able to stay up with AMD. But in a tie like that, AMD and its stockholders win - all AMD needs is rough clock speed and performance parity so that it can maintain a 30% share of the market, including the high end of the market. AMD's overhead and depreciation is a fraction of Intel's. What would be mediocre performance for Intel will be a tremendous, stock boosting success for AMD.

Intel at 1.1GHZ end of Februrary.... No problem.

RE <<<Willamette won't be here any time soon !

But it will get here !>>>

Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what intc has said about merced for the past 4 years.....no one's holding their breath on that one either.

By the time merced makes an appearance, their will be a 12th generation Athlon that will still be THE FASTEST CHIP IN ALL THE LAND!!!
